What parts do I need to buy if I want to change from a 10 seer AC (outside part) unit to a 13 or higher.?

I live in Texas and own a 3200 sf duplex. I live in half and rent the other side out. My electric bill is almost $450 a month, and my renters is over $500. I have put in energy star bulbs and almost everything else is energy star. Would changing the fan unit thing (I have no clue what you call that) outside make a difference in my electric bill? If it drops it $50 a month or so I would love to change them out. I Also do I need to match the outside fan thing to the manufacturer of the inside one?

HVAC Tech.: You would have to replace whole system. The outside unit MUST match the inside unit. The difference in the 10 and the 13 seer unit just would not justify that kind of expense right NOW .Wait until the unit needs replacement you could even save more by that time. my thought save your money for now. No telling where technology will be in a few years. Something else to think about is insulation.Any thing you do to cut your heat gain will save you money.
